Three years ago Mark Prior and Kerry Wood appeared on the cover with the headline that read "The Cubs Will Win The World Series" only to have both struck down with a series of injuries and the Cubs missed yet another playoff chance. Need I say more?

Never heard of SI curse but heard of madden curse
usually if you are on the cover you have a bad year the year you are put on the cover

I recall it as the SI Jinx and u should go to their web site and read about all the cases over six decades. Pretty convincing that a Jinx does exist relating to being honored on the cover of SI. I like the black cat cover story about it. Wisely they chose a non-human for the cover!

evidently a lot of athletes really believe that an appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated leaves them jinxed and marks the end of their carrer. I tend to believe an appearance on the SI cover leaves the athlete feeling overconfident and his big ol' head gets in the way of his career after that :D who knows!
