I think of pyramids esp. The Great Pyramid because of its age and wondering just how it was made. To me Egypt is old, but I imagine the people to be modern.

The Pyramids.
When thinking of Egypt, I feel it's old, or ancient.
When thinking of today's Egyptian people, I feel modern.
So, the whole feeling of the country may be a mixture of ancient and modern for me.

Pyramids & Mummys
I imagine the country as being old, with a rich history, but not necessarily behind the times today. I don't really have an impression of it's people, haven't had any exposure to them. I don't necessarily think anything negative about them though.
(I attribute all the above comments to being a naive, secluded capitalist american who reserves judgement until he sees things for himself......lol)
