I saw Snakes on the Plane and was curious. Do snakes really do that?

No, snakes don't usually eat people. However, they can kill humans with their venom or they can suffocate humans by strangling them.

Snakes typically do not eat people. Although they can dislocate their jaw to swallow objects larger than their heads, it can not distend to eat the average man. That being said, I recall a photo a few years back of the body of a child recovered from a snake, and a recent 'Most Extreme' episode on Animal Planet saying that pythons typically prey on primates -- inferring that small humans can also fall victim.

Stay away from the huge ones but small snakes are nice they won't do anything. If your a close to a small snake don't be scared but if it's a huge one you have a reason to be scared unless if the snakes are poisonus. Don't be so paranoid of that movie it's very rare. I thought Snakes on the Plane was retarded.

most snakes are not big enough to eat people. but i think some of the bigger ones in south america would swallow you down if they could... maybe a very large python or an anaconda. boa constrictors sqeeze their prey until they crush them to death. but overall, it is a very rare incidence for a snake to eat a person.

no snakes don't eat people i have a snake and the biggest thing i feed her is two 10lbs rabbits every two weeks and she is over 9 feet long

Oh yes they do! I just saw a picture of an anaconda that was split open and a fully clothed human was inside.
