I am ttc and was suppose to ovulate 9/18-9/22. I felt like I was ovulating, however I didn't have ovulation pains as severe or as noticeable as usual. I had some type of mucus on the 20th so I thought I must have been ovulating then. However, yesterday i went to the restroom and noticed lots and lots of mucus. (sorry if TMI) I am still having this, and I am having lots of ovary pain like I normally do when I ovulate just a little more noticeable. So i'm guessing that I have ovulated late this month but was just wondering how long does the fertile mucus as we call it last? We had sex last night, my dr said to have sex everyother day, should I have sex tonight or go ahead and wait til tom? or will the mucus be gone by then?

You have only a 24hr window. It's okay to wait till tomorrow, as sperm can last a couple of days and sometimes more.
Its easy to get ovulating mucus mixed up with sperm. So, don't go by the mucus alone to tell if you are fertile or not. Use your BBT basal body temperature or ovulation kit.

I had the exact same questions so I asked my fertility doctor since we have been trying for #2 for over 2 years..
From what I understand to be true, when you "feel" ovulation pain, it can be before, during or even after you have ovulated...so don't go by that. I thought I could always tell when I was ovulating to...I was wrong. As for the mucous, Watery and egg white mucous are the most fertile. It is however possible to have several patches of "fertile" cm through out your cycle and after ovulation. The only sure way to know when you ovulate is to take your Basal Body temp each morn, at the same time and before you get out of bed. By doing this you will be able to see a pattern in your temps leading up to and after ovulation.
