I would have to go with Mary J. She has brought a whole generation through with the songs based on her life. All the choices are great singers, but the message that Mary sends to the young women of today none of the others can hold a candle to that.

I think Mary J. Blige . . .I wouldve said Whitney but her time has passed and her decline is disturbing. Mariah cant sing as good anymore and she does that whole breathy whisper too much. As for Ashanti and Brandy all I can say is LOL

Aretha's the queen of soul. MJB is the queen of hip hip r & b. The queen of r & b should be Chaka Khan, Nancy Wilson or that un-name-able hardworking weave wearing thigh bearing blond haired from Houston vixen who shall not be mentioned, but is working derned hard for the title.
