No they didnt and I agree with Paolo maldini :
Paolo Maldini has hit out at FIFA president Sepp Blatter for what he claims is an anti-Italian bias within world football's governing body. The Azzurri's record cap-winner said Blatter was wrong to turn down the chance to hand the World Cup to Fabio Cannavaro in July.

Instead, Blatter let UEFA boss Lennart Johansson present football's greatest prize at the climax of a tournament organised by UEFA's biggest rivals.

He believes FIFA's alleged antipathy towards Italy has been exacerbated by the recent calciopoli scandal that saw Juventus, AC Milan, Fiorentina, Lazio and Reggina found guilty on match-fixing charges.

"What really bothered me was the way FIFA treated us in Berlin," Maldini told Panorama magazine.

"Blatter didn't want to award us and said this has been a scandal which our federation didn't react to.

"I have never seen anything like it. What is even worse is that Blatter keeps expressing very harsh comments about Italian football.

Knowing the facts that Germany has never beaten Italy in World Cup(all losses/draw) and Euro (2 draw) - this German team is different compared with the current Italian team. Many have forgotten that Germany beat Italy in Seoul 1988 Olympics 3-0 in the Bronze medal match. German attack is very potent and mid field needs to energize their attack. On the other side, Italy has surprised me in this competition both in their offense and defense. Both have great mid fielders and yes German defense is sort of weak. Pirlo - how he plays today will make a difference in the outcome. Whatever it may be - all I hope is for great match up between the historic great teams and let the best team win.

Certainly not by some members of the public or the media. There are still constantly so many people questioning whether or not they deserved to win. Some still believe that Italy didn't deserve to win, thinking that they cheated and the outcome was unfair.

But honestly, the purpose of the FIFA World Cup was to unite countries, with the most universal sport: football. If people continue to scrutinize the Italians, they aren't seeing the real meaning of the whole concept of the tournament. It wasn't meant to divide the peoples of the world, and especially the most influential ones, the media.

Obviously NOT!

FIFA has been so ridiculously and blatantly against the Italian triumph.
Blatter and Platini were not present during the after-game ceremony (first time ever that a President did not consign the trophy)
Even worst it was the sanction toward Materazzi for the Zidane episode: first time ever that a player is disqualified in that situation. That fed the media's business and the millions of people who watch soccer once every four year, while for the others, people who understand soccer, the verdict was the most shameful and dangerous in soccer history (close to the Bossman sentence resonance)
The absence of the Italian Federation was even more embarassing.
What many people do not understand in the Materazzi-Zidane episode that it is common in soccer at any level that players exchange verbal threatens or argumentation. What is not common is the insane reaction Zidane had in a World Cup Final (he has admitted that) and FIFA officials instead of punishing that action they have justified the French player with an inadmissible sentence.
Most of the Countries around the world have pointed the above, but no one has really stood up to it, because Blatter/Platini are too powerful to be contradicted. The media is even more guilty, because they have focused on an episode of little importance toward the final result, but allowed them to get the attention of everyone who have watched watching the World Cup, creating an incredible damnage to the soccer community.

They are the world champions, they won 4 times, they are the best, for me, they should have got better than that. If I was a member of FIFA or the media or whatever, I would have given them more than that as they deserved a great recognition after what theyd did. They played as best as they could and they've won so I sincerely think that they deserve more than that. And once again, Italy are not cheaters or losers. I'm so tired of all these stupid things.

It pains me to say that they didn't, not in England anyway.Their fine victory was overshadowed by the Zidane sending off incident.
Zidane made the headlines in the press the next day on both the front and back pages.
Why the press decided to focus on his sending off instead of Italy's fourth World Cup victory is still beyond me.

Nopes,they deserved much more!!!!
For example-you'll see more photos of Zidane walking sadly away than the 1 in which ITalian team is celebrating.
Even here, people talk more of Zidane's headbutt than Italy winning!!!
In short,French defeat is much more famous than Italian victory!

Just being the center of attention is worth a lot plus the fact that the World Cup brings a huge amount of business to the country that hosts. I would love to go there some day.

I don't think so...sadly.
If I could sue the anchors at FSC, I would. They make a living out of degrading the Italian National team, specially after the Euro 08' loss against France.
