It has been low for the last few months and I have had one Iron Infusion. I came close to passing out at work last week and am concerned about the long term affects of this low Iron Level.

I had Gastric Bypass in 2002 so I absorb only a small amount of the iron from my foods. In addition I have had another surgery recently and have had a low hemoglobin level since. They are going to do another iron infusion but I am waiting for orders to be sent to the hospital. In the mean time I am miserable... Trying to make it through a day is the hardest thing right now.

Is your hemoglobin also low ? If so, you will indeed feel faint and it would be dangerous to operate machinery, automobiles, etc. Have your Dr. determine where iron is being lost, or why it isn't being absorbed.

i sure wish i could find that answer Ive been hospitalized 3 times they dint know what caused it but they tell me i have to keep a close watch on my iron and white cell count i may have to take iron pills Ive had blood transfusion and iron transfusions all is OK today so all i can say is find a Dr. that is in this field it can cause lots of problems when your iron is low good luck

No disrespect, but why do people post questions like this that they could and should be asking their health care providers at the time they are given the news???
I realize that questions often come up later, but they should be asked of the people responsible for the care. Yahoo answers has lots of nice, well-meaning folks out there, but they can never take the place of the folks in the exam room with you.

No you are picky...and that is great! I joke on here and can be very naughty...but I have not been with alot of men intimately, dated many...but did not sleep with them...I really have to have deep feelings for who I am with on that level. Yes a serious answer!!!!!

Anemia is your worst enemy at this time. If you eat Beef, Liver is high in Iron and so is Beef Heart.
