My daughter started to swim at 6 months old... though not regularly but I think it is good to introduce them to swimming at young age. The older they become they will be afraid.

I took swimming lessons when I was 10. Didn't learn how to swim until we moved into a house with a pool. I was 15! Was always deathly afraid of the water! Not anymore...

My kids started community education swimming lessons at a therapeutic swimming pool when they were six months old. They didn't really learn how to swim at that age, of course, but it was fun to play with them and to get them used to the water.

My first child started at 16 months, my second child at 6 years, and my third child at 3 years, so it varies depending on the child and the availability of a swimming pool. LOL
I'm sorry, I just looked at your question again to be sure I answered correctly. My children didn't take swimming lessons, I taught them. Sorry!

I was 6, but many children learn to swim when they are 3 or 4.

I started at age 5 when i was going into kindergarten.I think thats a good time because the child is at a well behaved age to start learing something new.

I was 10 and had just gotten a tetnus shot in my arm. It sucked, I still do not like to go swimming. But my brother started when he was 4 years.
