Why do Republicans only care about the UN when they talk about Iraq's violation of its resolutions?

They say the UN is worthless and needs to be off of our soil. They say we shouldn't pay our UN dues (and by the way, we don't always pay, http://www.americans-world.org/digest/global_issues/un/un3.cfm),
But when it comes to using the UN as an excuse to go to war, Repubs have no problem!

Most of the resolutions the UN makes are great and useful. The problems occur in two ways:

1.) UN cannot, and will not enforce it's resolutions.

2.) When UN should, but it does not make a resolution, because of corrupt totalitarian leaders have too much of a voice in the UN.

And this is a reason that I affirm that UN shouldn't have too much of a role in US foreign policy. I wrote 'too much' in order to allow me to say that Saddam deserved what he got because he did not respect the UN resolution. The one that UN couldn't/wouldn't enforce.

while i think of of appreciate for and help of the UN, Republicans consistently spring suitable to suggestions. (sarcasm) UN resolutions become purely an excuse, the UN secure practices Council is the only physique which could decide for no count if any violation might justify a militia reaction, the U. People who like the UN and want to see it do well would be advised to appreciate the various criticisms of this august body. When the UN doesn't keep its word, it becomes a laughingstock, and no one takes it seriously. When some of its highest ranking officials were caught stuffing their pockets with billions of dollars intended for hungry Iraqis, it damages the credibility of the whole organization. When the Assembly is mainly a country club for despots who vigorously oppose democracy, reasonable people begin to doubt the UN's value. For the UN to remain relevant, they must clean up their act, and follow words with deeds.

Awesome observation I didn't think of that but you are absolutely right but that's Bushes way of just showing the world he does whatever he wants.The self proclaimed world boss . Preaching to all on what they can and can't do.

Do you realize the United States is the only country to have ever deployed a Nuclear bomb against people. But accuses Iran of absolutely trying to build a bomb, while not even engaging them in talks on the topic ?

Do you realize that the US will deploy anything they have as long as it isn't possessed by the other side?

Who really then,, is the world aggressor ?? Ever think maybe other countries are fighting to survive the US drain and rape of their natural resources, ? Something to think about,

Money talks. It can buy allot of crooked 3rd world leaders and missionary's. But its the people that suffer,, Maybe they are just fed up.. Death for a cause is better then just rolling over and dyeing .Even for a civilized American..

Because the UN is a vast sinkhole of corruption. It has no surceases, it accomplishes nothing and coddles murderous dictators. I suppose we refer to the UN resolutions because the resolutions were part of forcing weak politicians to do the right thing. The right thing is still to achieve victory, sorry you dirty hippies but we cannot run like during your period of relevancy they will follow us home.
