There are many ways, but I can tell you one that worked for me twice. Find some stairs even if it's just three. Walk up and down the for about an hour then have sex with your partner. It should work after at least two days. Most times it only takes once if you can walk up and down for an hour or so none stop then have a hot bath and sex immediatly after. By morning you will be greeting your new bundle. Good luck.
The walking up and down works the baby into the canal and brings on contrations ( small by noticible by a Dr. or feeling your belly tighten ) then the hot bath relaxes the muscles, the the sex will allow any of your mucas plug that is left to pass and the cervix will contract, and begin to open.

My sister made me drink gallons of raspberry tea...didn't work
My b/f had sex with me...didn't work
I walked and walked and walked...didn't work
I was a whole week overdue and my son still didn't want to come out. It took the doctor to induce before it started to happen...and even then my body didn't react well with it..All in all after 23 hours of labor with no drugs I had to have an emergency C section..
My advice to you is this...relax, don't work so hard, and your time will come. Just make sure you try to enjoy these last few days cause they will be the most memorable and incredible. Good Luck!

I did a couple things to bring on labor - one or both got it started.
1. Laughter - went to a comedy club
2. Spicy food - had hot curry at an Indian restaurant
To be honest though, after I went to the hospital, the labor stopped and they induced the next day. I'd say try to avoid having labor induced or if it turns out that way, go for the epidural RIGHT AWAY. Seriously.
I've heard walking can help.
Good luck!

I went 4 weeks overdue with my daughter who is now 21 and pregnant with her first baby. She is due Oct 16 and I hope she doesn't go overdue. Anyways - I found NOTHING that worked to bring on labor during any of my 3 pregnancies. I tried having sex, going up & down stairs, walking & walking & walking, cleaning my house, castor oil, eating spicy food. Don't bother!! When the baby is ready it will be born. Good luck to you & I hope your labor begins soon!!!

As I believe when God feels the time is right, that's when your bundle of joy will come out. Relax and enjoy not changing diapers, not feeding, burping and wiping your angel. All that will come soon enough. Although it sounds like a lot of work, it's part of the greatest joy in the world so it's not so bad.
Have a wonderful easy delivery, when the time is right. Congratulations.

yes, sex does help, also walking. However, I wouldn't rush it too much, due dates are only a guess, they are not 100% acurate. Nature knows what its doing, so give it time, don't rush it along. I was 3 cm dialated for 3 weeks. Don't worry, it'll happen.

oh my gosh don't rush it. it is not uncommon to be dilated for a long period of time, but since you're still not to your due date, chill out!
sex theoretically works for 2 reasons - semen softens up the cervix, and your orgasm causes your pituitary to secrete oxytocin, the hormone that causes uterine contractions. however, this won't work if your body isn't otherwise ready - if it worked every time, docs would be telling their pregnant patients not to have sex so they don't induce preterm labor!
you may be ready to meet this little roommate of yours, but once he's out, you can't put him back in when you just want some time alone - enjoy these last few days!
congrats!

When the baby wants to make an appearance she/he will and not one moment before. Just relax...that will help more than anything else....I know easier said than done when you feel like you are carrying around a 30 pound bowling ball on your belly!! Been there, done that....x3. this too shall pass. Best of luck.

What about having an orgasm? I heard that works in helping the baby out. In any case, you are still a few days early anyway and if you still haven't given birth in a couple of weeks, your doctor should induce.
