I am senior in high school and would like to wrestle. I have mixed feelings on the topic, though. Guys, probably, have mixed feelings as well. I don't want to be looked down upon because of being a female wrestler. So, why do it if it comes down to that. I need opinions.

This has been one of the issues for a long time. I wanted to play football & take woodshop when I was in hs, (many years ago), but I was the wrong gender. Boys couldn't take PE with the girls, they couldn't take Home Ec, and they had to stay in their own areas at sports events. Things have changed a lot, and they're still changing. I think that girls will be allowed to wrestle, but it will be quite a while before they allow them to wrestle the boys in competition. It will be girls against girls and boys against boys unless something special happens. Like it or not, it remains a divided world, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Good luck to you!

OK Females in high school wrestling. Despite equal opportunity I'd say no, don't try it. Like it or not, Males and Females are built different no matter how much neo-feminists red bull you drink, biology has made us different. With skill and training you probably could do it, but the chances of injury are far greater to you as a female versus a male. It's nothing against you not having the heart for it... unless you are a biological anomaly, the biology says different.

My first reaction when seeing the question was a sort of sarcastic remark. Seeing that a female is asking the question, you now have my respect. If you want to wrestle and are ready for the rigors and pain involved, apart from the initial animosity you'll run into among the male wrestlers, then do what your heart tells you is right. The only person you really have to live with and whose standards you have to meet are those of the only person you'll live with the rest of your life: yourself. Do what your heart says is right and, whatever you do, give it everything you have, and a little bit more, especially if you're competing with males. You'll have to earn your own respect as well as theirs, and your own will be the harder of the two.

Good luck, whatever you do.

Why not? I like watching women wrestle. I used to wrestle my girlfriends in college at a local bar for money. Late Friday night on Fox Sports the Womens Exxteme Championship Wrestling comes on and I get a kick out of it.

It's not a question of gender, it's a question of whether it's right for you, irrespective of whether you are male or female. Saying that females should not be allowed to wrestle is just sexist and a step backwards in equality.

girls like to wrestle. i have girls and they have all wanted to wrestle or play football..

my oldest fought to get on the football team and was told she couldnt play anymore because of unnecessary roughness. in all reality, she was kicking the boys's butts and the macho men didnt like it.

girls can do anything a boy can do except pee on a tree and they can do that if they try hard enough.

if you want to wrestle, then do it. why let some bigotted people stop you from doing what you really want.

if you mean girls wrestling each other that would be great. but to have a girl wrestling guys I think puts too much risk for sexual assault charges claims or offenses because the guy could easily grab a boob or touch certain areas that wouldn't be appropriate or on the other hand the guy may be afraid to grab certain areas and that wouldn't be fair.
