I suggest moving out because you want to be totally immersed in the college culture and the only way to do that is by living on campus. You'll meet people a lot easier and get to hang out with them a lot more. Con of living on campus is that it costs a lot more; but hey, it's worth it.

first of all...take your teddy bear with you...almost everyone does....even some guys (though they usually won't admit it)

moving out is important, you get to assert your independence and be responsible for yourself for the first time. it is also the only way to get your parents to really learn to treat you as an adult. its the only way to really experience college. and its the process of growing up. sort of a middle step between mom cooking dinner, and you having to pay 6 bills every month....you make your own decsions, but don't have to worry about the rent every month and making sure the electricity stays on...the school takes care of that. this way when you are out of college and on your own, you're not hit with ALL the adult stuff at once...you've already learned how to handle some of the things. also, i can NEVER get work done with my mom around...she wants me to just do this or that (and it'll only take a minute) but you get your concentration broken, or never get back to it. she just doesn't get it, but she never went to college either....if your parents did, this might not be such an issue for you.

on the other hand...if money is an issue, then staying at home can really help as you won't have to pay for room OR board. student loans suck to pay back. Also, if you aren't able to give yourself limits and stick to them, it might be better to have mom look over your shoulder for a year or two...you can always go to the dorms for your junior and senior year. If you just can't make yourself go to be in time to get up in the morning now, you'll have an even tougher time doing it when there's no one that you have to explain your actions to.

the decision is different for every person....but for me, moving to college was a good way to start growing up. good luck with your decision.

Move out, you'll have more private space and time to study which is very important.
