Believe me, there are more on the right than the media lets you know of, and this day and age, that's a good thing.

I think the majority of Americans are in the center. Everyone wants good affordable health care for themselves and their families. Everyone wants an affordable home in the area of their choice. Everyone thinks about enviornment, the cost and quality of education. We all hope that our representatives will use their common sense as to immigration, protecting our country, providing jobs.
When you get down to it most americans want a good quality of life for all citizens and do not want our money spent trying to get other countries to want the same thing.

I would say that your center is on the right so the whole continuum is skewed. Socialists, and further left Communists aren't allowed and barely exist in practice so you don't have the natural groups to balance the right.

Its like a street, some on the left and some on the right, those on
the middle of the street, well you know that happens, when you stand in the middle of the street., so chose a side.

It's a bell shaped curve - majority in the center. Depends on where you draw the lines though...

Id say it about 60/40. 60% red 40 blue%.
BUT consider this......
What we see in the blue collar uneducated class of people, is complete ignorance in political issues. For instance they merely catch on and identify with catch phrases like "cut and run" or "new direction in Iraq." Your average blue collar person barely tunes in to whats going on therefore is neither blue nor red. They will have the propensity to vote whoever happens to SOUND better in their campaign without deeper analysis. Surefire way to destroy a democracy.
Thomas Jefferson rightly pointed out that the lack of education in America is an open door for tyrants.

People live their lives like conservatives, I have no idea why almost 50% vote for liberals.
Examples: Conservatives believe in free markets and competition. People dislike monopolies, and shop around for the lowest price. Liberals want to make the government the ultimate monopoly so nobody has choice. Nobody lives like that, why do people vote for that?
Conservatives believe in punsihing criminals. If somebody hurts a loved one of yours, you want them to be punished, and put away so they can never hurt you, or anyone else again. Liberals want to give criminals medicine and 26 chances. Again, nobody wants that, so why do people vote for that?
People want the freedom to start their own business, hire whomever they want, fire whomever they want, choose how much to pay employees, and not give 30% of their blood, sweat, and tears to the government. Liberals want to tell you how to run your life and business and take all of your money. Nobody wants that, so why do people vote for that?
People enjoy choosing what they eat, drink, and smoke. Liberals want to take away our choices (for our own good). Nobody wants the government telling them what to eat, drink, or smoke, so who votes for that?
It boggles the mind that anybody votes for liberals considering nobody lives their lives like a liberal.
...Disclaimer: I'm refering to modern liberals that believe in socialism (welfare, social healthcare, social retirement, social housing, social eating, social smoking, social art, social everything). These are life's failures, so their only solution is to steal (taxes) from the rich and middle class to fund their social programs (socialism).

The majority are lost, dazed, and confused. That's what happens when your country endures a pretzel deficit.
