I fully second the views expressed by Harsh. Now the remedy lies in your life style. If you take my words (experienced myself), you can come out of it with a bang. Listen to Swami Ramdev, he is a genius.

1. Start doing Yoga (Particularly Pranayam)
2. Start playing some sports (like badminton, table tennis or others)
3. Mingle with your friends and be natural in your laughter, expression of your views and suggesting others.
4. If possible come out of your stress environment. It may sound impossible but if you remain there in the same state of mind, that would be worse. Better come out of it with a bold decision even if you have to face several hardships. Have faith in your ability to sustain life and proper.

My best wishes with you. It would work I may assure you.

Since your doctor advises you to consult a psychiatrist, it indicates that you are not suffering from any disease.

The problems what ever you are facing (nerves weakness) might be due to the environment you are living in, probably disturbing or emotionally hurting.

You might be having certain expectations from all those living or working around you. But, it is just not possible that you get whatever you expect from others or in your life.

Such situations usually result in stresses some times called anxiety. This problem has become a part of life for most of us, in the modern world where people just do not care for your emotions.

Your remedy is in your hands... just stop expecting too very much... you will feel better. Good luck...

If you've been to several neurologists and they only give you meds that don't work and they are suggesting that you see a psychiatrist, then maybe you should listen to that advice, and go. It couldn't hurt, it may actually help. There's a fairly interesting article about the link between depression and weak nerves that you might want to check out. It says that doctors at John Hopkins gave Prozac to rats and found that not only did it change brain chemistry it generated new nerve endings (at least in the brain, whether it'll work for all the nerves in the body I don't know). Give the psychiatrist a try.

I would ask your doc about Paxil. I was having very bad problems with nervousness and anxiety and it worked very well for me. I finally got to the point after 2 years where I could stop taking it and I feel fine. I would also reccomend joining a church where you can be surrounded by good people who can help you. Take care, you will get through it.
