I love horror films but the scariest I've seen would have to be Audition, the new Dawn of the Dead and The Shining, each for different reasons, Audition just cos that women is crazy and gross, Dawn of the Dead, cos those zombies can run, and The Shining as scary on a psychological level......

However I just love cheese scary films, I watched one last night watched wrong turn, which wasn't scary but I love getting all involved......like "noo, you don't want to run there" even though they are the cheesiest films ever, although it's even more fun to watch them when you're drunk, I saw House of Wax at the cinema whilst tipsy and thought it was great, however on a sober repeat viewing it sucked!!!

the most scary movie is, The Exorcist (1973) the shocking horror story about devil possession and the subsequent exorcism of the demonic spirits from a young, innocent girl. The Exorcist was notable for being one of the biggest box-office successes (and one of the first 'blockbusters' in film history, predating Jaws (1975)), and surpassed The Godfather (1972) as the biggest money-maker of its time. And it remains one of the few horror films nominated for Best Picture. However, it was also one of the most opposed films for its controversial content. Roman Polanski's successful Rosemary's Baby (1968) played upon similar fears of devil possession. However, the exorcist was also one of the most opposed films for its controversial content, but later embarked as an influence for many more horror movies. The film was enormously popular with moviegoers in1973, but some portions of the viewing audience fled from theatres due to nausea or sheer fright/anger, especially during the long sequence of invasive medical testing performed on the hapless patient. Other disturbing events that affected some of the film's stars (injury and death) also plagued the production.
'The Exorcist' , was allegedly “Based on a True Story”, making its audience question 'the demonic and paranormal', which i see as good marketing aimed towards the movie going audience.
i still cant watch this movie, thou. : [

The movie that i will think twice about seeing ever because it scared me so bad was 28 days later, it was to realistic. The Serpent and the Rainbow by Wes Craven. It is based on a true story and that is why it is so scary. Recently however, The Fog of War scared the crap put of me.

The very first time I saw "The Exorcist" I was scared beyond belief. Later I learned how they made the movie and it no longer had power over me.

I guess it's not so scary to me now, but The Blob was the only movie that I can remember giving me nightmares when I was a kid.
