Talk to your school guidance counselor. They can inform you on whether or not you can work a "real" job (cashier, hostess, etc.). Most states require anyone under 18 to have a work permit on file with the school and I know in Indiana no one under the age of 14 can work a "real" job. They also have limitations on the amount of hours, whether you can work on school days, etc. They also can make you quit your job if your grades start to slip and they WILL contact your employer if that happens. If this is the case in your state, look into safe babysitter classes and then post flyer's with references(people who will put a good word in for you) in the community, especially places frequented by children. You can also do odd jobs around the neighborhood, rake leaves, cut grass, maybe even some housekeeping(people you know and make sure your parents know where you are, just in case). If you know someone with a personal business see if you can help them file paperwork or help them clean the office. If you crafty at all try making bracelets and selling them. If you end up doing well you could sell them at a yard sale or (with parents permission of course) sell them on eBay. With small jobs like this they will pay cash and you don't have to worry about paying taxes. It's "under the table" cash as adults say because the government doesn't know about the money. Good luck.

Baby sitting, lawn mowing, dog walking, helping an elderly person buy groceries, etc... Most states do not allow compaines to hire kids under 14, with the exception of family businesses and farm work. Why would you need a "job", anyway? Unions fought thru the whole 1800's and the firs part of the 1900's to stop kids from working, and now you WANT to?!?!

hey, a very good option is to work from home on your computer - write articles, sell on eBay, make a website, take surveys...nd make money on ur own!

or just join some local restaurant or pizza joint or do stuff like cleaning, gardening, babysitting and so on! Such opportunities abound in local classifieds and billboards, just check around :)

A 7 yr old can't legally work at a store and such ..( child labor laws ). However, he/she can do small jobs for change.. babysit I would not recommend for a 7 yr old. Though he/she could do things like pull weeds or rake leaves, snow shovel.

You could do fundraisers if it's for a trip to DC. You could also babysit neighbor's child(ren) if any of your neighbors had any. I'm not sure if you want to mow lawns though.
