i've been trying to figure that out forever. can someone tell me?

Anti-Meridian and Post-Meridian.
Meridian being an old term used to refer to the middle of the day, or the point when the sun reaches it's apex in the sky.

a.m.
ante meridian - Of, relating to, or taking place in the morning
p.m.
post meridian - Of, relating to, or taking place in the afternoon
