Argosy cruises are ok, but really...if you just want beautiful views of the city from the water, I'd just travel on the Washington State Ferries. Traveling on a ferry is a true Seattle experience. You could take the ferry to Bainbridge and go to a restaurant or winery there and then come back to Seattle...or go to Bremerton (2 hours round trip) and back (there's not much to do in Bremerton itself) and then eat at a nice restaurant on the waterfront, overlooking the water, the mountains, etc.

The best cruise is to Blake Island. Blake Island is 100% State Park and is only accessible by boat. This limited access perserves the island and maintains its remote and wild feel. Blake Island is just a few miles from Seattle and accessible only a couple times a day by commerical public boat. In addition to the cruise it has a Alder Planked Salmon Dinner in a building that is designed to be like a Northwest Indian "longhouse". The dinner is followed buy a show that is put on by the local Native Americans. The show is great! There is Authentic NW Indian Ceremonial dressed dancers, traditional folklore, legends and tribal knowledege shared through dramatizations, song and dance. After the dinner and show you will have time to explore the island a bit before the boat leaves. The view of Seattle and Mt Rainier from Blake Island and Tillicum Village is about the best you will get.
Do not pass up the steamed clam appetizers. They are prepared perfectly.
Another inexpensive "cruise" option is taking a ride on a Washington State Ferry from Seattle. You can hop a ferry to Bremerton from the Downtown Seattle waterfront. Bremerton is a large mitary town that has a military museum and a tour of a Naval Destroyer that people appreciate seeing. Once you get to Bremerton you can hop a foot ferry Port Orchard and see what a small NW town is like. There are a few touristy shops there and some antique shops too.
The Victoria Clipper is a fast hydrofoil to Victoria BC is great outing too but it is a bit long for just a weekend trip. Victoria needs a whole weekend in itself, minimum. If you do decide to do the Clipper anyway be certain to bring your passport. It will save you lots of grief. If you don't have your passport, you will at least need proof of US citizenship (like your birth certificate) and a photo ID. It will not be long before the passport is absolutely mandatory.

hi!
I just got home from seattle! I went on the Argosy dinner cruise, it was ok.... like a 6 1/2 out of 10.
the food was good, but we cruised around in the dark and could not see that much. until we turned around and saw the city... (very nice). Our "captain" was obsessed with the cranes and how much money they make, and kept taking us by there.
like i said, the food was good, and the bar was good....
A good boat ride that I went on was the victoria clipper.
It was about 2 1/2 hours long, and takes you into Victoria Canada.... Very fun time. we only stayed the day, and had fun but could have easily stayed 2 days.
on that boat as an international traveler you can but alcohol (like jack, and absolute) quarts for like 15-20 dollars! tax free, always a bonus, they also serve drinks, and you can get a light meal on board, breakfast, and dinner.
Also once in victoria, you can take another boat out and go whale watching, very fun I have heard, its a fast boat and takes you out for another 2 hours to see killer whales.
you do need your birth certificate for the trip though, not a passport til january.
if you to to pier 66 in seattle's waterfront you ccan get a day cruise or a sunset crusie, I dont know if you can get a meal on it though.
here is a link for the clipper, it seems to focus on the vacations, but you can get it just for the day.

a million) stated cruise line for our funds (around 2,000 consistent with individual) and age team..any cruise lines that would have family participants suites that would in all probability carry all six (fairly than purely 4)? i might bypass with Princess or celebrity. i think of celebrity may well be out of the funds, yet NCL isn't properly well worth the funds. 2) what's the excellent component to alaska to cruise if we could see glaciers, whales, etc...(i.e. interior passage?) you do no longer choose interior passage, plus you maximum in all probability won't get that out of Seattle. that is better to bypass remote from Vancouver for that, yet Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Ketchikan are sturdy to work out. 3) How will the climate be interior the 1st week of July as adversarial to the 1st week of August? lots warmer. that is often gold close to the glaciers, although that is lots warmer and much less rain. 4) Any could do's / could sees on an alaska cruise? Umm...Glacier walks, canines sleding camps, Heli rides, game fishing. 5) for people who did this cruise and had a balcony, i heard maximum individuals do no longer use them in any respect, with the aid of fact that is notably chilly..is that real? (I stay in Seattle so i'm used to Seattle climate). considering which you reside right here and you be attentive to the climate, that is notably lots the comparable climate in AK, yet say 5 - 10 degree cooler interior the glacier factors. Balconies are ok and exciting in heat places, yet climate that is chilly exterior or no longer you do no longer use it that lots. 6) any added documents, suggestions, questions? have exciting!

Take the Clipper to Victoria, instead
- a cruise around the Sound is not very exciting. When you get to Victoria - have a meal at The Blue Crab.
