Most of the herbs that are known abortifactants are not things that are readily available even for people who are searching for them (ex. tansy, pennyroyal).
However, be careful. Many common herbal supplements can prove to be abortifactats if you take too much of them. A good example here is Vitamin C. Vitamin C in its natural state is a progesterone inhibitor--in otherwords, it causes the body to produce less progesterone--a hormone that is vital during pregnancy. Most all bottles of Vitamin C that you purchase have additives that prevent progesterone inhibition.
I'm not saying don't take Vit C while you are pregnant. What I am saying is read the labels of all herbal supplements and do your research. If a Vit C brand contains rose hips, it is safe to take. Do not exceed 500mg a day.
Please also avoid ALL essential oils. Those can kill not just your unborn child, but you as well. They are extremely dangerous.
My recommendation to you is to take your prenatal vitamins and let that be the extent of your supplements during pregnancy. Those vitamins are designed with you and your child in mind and contain everything you need vitamin-wise. Herbs are fun to experiment with, but its best not to do it during pregnancy (although you can take Black Cohash near the end of your pregnancy to stimulate uterine contractions and induce labor)
Best of luck!

Any Herb can have medicinal side effects like any other drug. Some can be very dangerous during pregnancy - and they aren't regulated like a "regualr" drug.....it's best to avoid them. Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

The only one I heard you should avoid in large quantities is parsley since it can bring on uterine contractions. Other than that I have not heard of any other herbs that are not OK.

You want to avoid caffiene, and stimulents like that.
Pot obviously.
Most tea is safe, so long as you're not having enough to get a caffiene rush.
