it aint homework...its an algebra question and i need to know the anwser for a bet i made with my mom who just happens to be taking algebra classes to become a teacher ok! so help!

dude...people are telling me that its 2x-2 then other people are saying its 2x+6..so im confused! ;(

Here's the deal. For the stuff in the first parentheses, you can just drop the parentheses. For the stuff in the second parentheses, you have to "distribute" the minus sign, which makes the 2x become -2x and the -4 become +4 (two minuses make a plus).

So your expression becomes

4x + 2 - 2x + 4

which simplifies to

2x + 6

which is the correct answer. (I teach math, by the way...)

it is not hard at all. the answer is simply 2x+6

because the two minus signs make it into a plus sign so it is 2+4

(4x+2)-(2x-4) = 4x+2-2x+4
because of the parens, the - applies to both the 2x and the -4 changing their signs)
2x +6

I might be wrong but I am thinking it is 8x^2 +12x+8

at least I think thats right, like I said I could be wrong.

let's see...

after distrubuting the negative, it looks like this:
4x + 2 - 2x + 4

then, combine like-terms:

2x + 6

ta-da! :]
