-2^0(-2-3^0)-(-2)^3-3
= -1(-2-1)-(-8)-3
= -1(-3)+8-3
= +3+8-3
= 11-3
= 8

Anything to the power of 0 equals 1. (x^0 = x^1/x^1 = x/x = 1)

A negative times a negative equals a positive. (If you spend two dollars an hour then 3 hours ago you had -2 dollars/hour * -3 hours = 6 dollars more than you have now on account of spending.
