I checked the manual for your board and found out that the maximum processor supported is AMD 2.25+ GHZ (Barton, Thouroughbred, Athlon XP, Athlon, or Duron). This means that you may have reached or near the reaching point of the maximum speed supported by your board.

If you want to upgrade for gaming, a new board is highly recommended, one that can support the fastest processor you can afford, the best video and the maximum memory. Once you replace the board, your current memory may not be compatible with the new one so consider purchasing a new set of memory as well. You will need to re-install your operating system if you end up replacing your board.

If you're tight on budget, look into getting a better video card and/or installing more memory (RAM).

Get yourself a new ASUS mobo, I have the ASUS A8V socket 939 with a AMD 3800+ Dual-Core processor. Quad-Cores are on the horizon.
