Also, does "the other week" mean last week, the week before, or some undetermined week ago?

The other day means some undetermined time in the recent past and the other week similarly means some undetermined time in the recent past . The Random House Dictionary defines the term as, "not long past".

i would say its an undetermined time in the past. but really it can only range from 2-9 days. beyond that you would say the other week or something of the like.

Both mean an undetermined time ago. Apply the "specificity test". If it ain't specific, it is undetermined.

Good question. If I say "the other day" I mean yesterday, or the day before yesterday, otherwise I think it's proper to say "a few days ago." I've never used "the other week." It's either last week, or the week before.

when i tend to say this i usually mean within 7 days or so. or i would say last week , or last month etc. i wouldnt say ooo this happened the other day if it was like weeks ago. if your with me on that lol. guess people use it in different ways really because someone could use it meaning the day before yesterday. making myself confused now lol!

The other day would mean 2 days ago or more. Same for the other week...2 weeks ago or more.

This depends on who you are talking to! If you are talking to a teen or a child; the other day could mean yesterday, three days ago, or even two weeks ago!!! They have no since of space or time!!! To me, the other day should only refer to 2 days or so prior... the other week....gee i don't know! My head hurts...lol !!

Some other time, not yesterday, maybe the day before. Usually means I don't really remember what day and it usually doesn't matter.
