I think you got it right--he didn't want to believe you. He doesn't want to think he's the kind of guy who can be friends with a bi guy or like a bi guy as a person. IOW, he's very insecure and afraid of himself, like many teens. This is his problem. There's no need to make it yours.
I'm sorry your first coming out was so difficult. The rest will be easier. And some people will actually believe you.
As for the age thing--don't worry about me. I've been pretty much 50/50 since I was *little*, and I'm 32. Anyway, nobody ever tells straight 16-year-olds that they're too young to make up their minds.

In a flash all he could think of was all the times you spent together. In a split second he had images of situations between you two that could have easily been taken the wrong way and now he has to wonder if you ever made a pass at him and he didn't notice or if you are telling him you are Bi because you want "more" from him.
I hope you did or will have the chance to fully explain yourself to him and I hope he understands.
Don't push him but don't give his imagination time to wander. I would not want to be in your shoes for a million bucks.
Good luck!

Maybe he doesn't understand what bi is and thinks that you are saying that you're gay, or even that you fancy him. Remember at your age, that group mentality rules. So if all your friends think its ok then he will turn around. But be perpared for the backlash from people who just want to mess with your head because you're different. And lastly, just be aware that he too will be coming to terms with his sexuality just as you are, and at this age confusion reigns supreme.

fear. thats why he responded that way. you forget that chidren learn from their parents so he may have heard something negative/derogative from his dad or mom or sister/brother/aunt/uncle.when i came out i was 15 but people knew when i was 12. if you are able to not tell people and go to a group at your local glbt centre do it that way . you will meet people your own age going through the same things you are. you gotta choose wisly who you come out to, there are a number of people that hate, or don't care about us, but if he doesn't like it, then oh well, you can't stop being you for one person you thought was your friend
