How do you find something that you have misplaced?

A dear friend loaned me an expensive pair of earrings for a special occasion. I kept them in jewelry box until I could return them. She wasn't going to be back in town for awhile, so she said "wear them while I am gone ... enjoy them!" I did, and now for the life of me, I don't know where I put them. I know I put them somewhere "safe," but they are not in my jewelry box and I cannot remember where oh where they are at. Is there someway to remember/jog my memory? Help, anyone! Another question might be, "what do I say to my friend if I cannot find them?"

Trust me, you are not the only person to do this. Every time I get new checks I hide them so good I can't find them!!!! I usually just have to systematically go through everything I have until I find them. Just tell your friend you hid them so good you can't find them, if she's in a hurry for them maybe she'll even help you look! Good luck. (This may sound dumb, but I'm Catholic and when I pray to St. Anthony it always helps, he's the patron saint of lost things. It may just be calming effect, but it really works)

I always find it useful to replay exactly what you did and where you went, starting from the last incident you are definate that you had them. Also search by every mirror in your house that you might've taken them off, or any other spots you may have taken them off.

Try retracing your steps. When was the last time you had them on? And where was the last place you sat them down before you had chance to put them in your jewlery box.
