I have two vehicles which I want to turbocharge. One has the OM617 3L 5-cyl diesel, the other the OM603 6-cyl diesel. Looking for the exhaust manifolds and turbos as both were available turbocharged at time of production in the eighties. Been looking for many months on ebay now - nothing! Anyone know where else apart from Mercedes who wants many thousands of pounds for these?

None not no parts because those old suckers are still running as cabs In Turkey & Iran. Turbocharging with out replacing the pistons will cause diesel knock and burn a piston. The turbo are built different the timing chain case is different Has a different vacuum pump and injection pump for turbo different. Injection pump and injectors alone will cost you as much as a used 300sd turbo diesel.

Try finding the manifold at a salvage yard devoted to M-B.

Go to a discount online auto parts store for an original equipment manufacturer supplied turbo. I'd stay away from used turbos.

Be sure you have parts diagrams for those engines. You want to make sure the oil lines are just right. No oil to turbo=dead turbo.

John Paul speaks the truth. Sell tour old cars and and buy a turbo model. These are two completely different motors.

You DON"T want to turbo-charge a diesel engine that was not designed for this. Your asking for big trouble.
