In Basic Training for the Army, we ran, a lot. Everywhere you went to, you had to run. It didnt make much sense until I weighed in 20 pounds less than when I came in. Running will help you drop a lot of pounds. Running and water consumption.

eat what makes sense as healthy don't diet. and so cardio at least five days a week for at least 30 Min's ( this is what I did for about four weeks and I lost 17 pounds)
P.S. if you try this you will lose most your weight in the third and fourth week it takes a while for your body to adjust.

Cardiovascular workout.
That should include running, walking, bicycle, steps, and some others. The time you need to get to your regular weight will vary with time you need to spend in workout and the overweight.
