Most of them know it, but they won't admit it, or they just don't care. Leave the problem for their grandchildren to deal with. There is no limit to greed, and as long as they get theirs, they don't care about anyone else.

Mark D. Pull your head out of the sand and pay attention!

The solution: Start thinking about what you can do to conserve what's left. I know what I do. I do my best not to agravate the problems, but, I admit, even that is not enough.

As Gregg Easterbrook would say, we aren't killing the planet nor are we killing the environment. What we do need to be concerned with is the particular environmental conditions that human beings need in order to survive. Expressions like "Save the planet!" and "Save the environment!" are simplistic slogans based on a sound-byte mentality. What we need to save is our own human-friendly environmental conditions so that we don't cause our own extinction. And to complain that there are too many people who don't care about that because they are totally self-centered is also way too simplistic. Furthermore, there already are very, very important tools to save what we need to save. Those tools are already existing enviromental laws and the enforcers of them, the EPA.

In order to get past the simplistic slogans and the sound bytes, why don't some of you come up with some kind of specific explanation as to why the already existing laws and law enforcers are insufficient. Then I might pay attention to you.

It's so very easy and self gratifying to point out the potentially obvious without advancing a solution...or even a suggestion.

What do you propose as the answer to your observation?

Unfortunately, there's going to have to be a major catastrophe before many people take it seriously....and this is what we're leaving our children to deal with? Sick and pitiful....
