I'm alive and well, so are 4 million Assyrians worldwide. It may have to do in part of the fact that we have been persectued because we are Christians of the Middle East. Hope you get the chance to meet an Assyrian in your lifetime and hear what they have to say.

Whenever I am asked my nationality I am either geared toward such nationalities as Greek, Eqyptian (even though I'm not tan :)), French, Italian, or Arab--never Assyrian. I believe there are many factors that lead to the generalization that Assyrians are extinct. We have been around for 6,756 years (proabably even more). Read my bio, and look us up for more information on such a persecuted and influential people. Thanks :)

Because some feel that after the fall of Nineveh to the Medes and Chaldeans in 612BC it was the end when in fact it was just like when Quebec left the hands of the French to the hands of the British. The French are still there they're just in captivity by the queen.

I've actually met an Assyrian. I guess people aren't really aware of Assyrians because there is no Assyria and many people just think Assyrians are from the Bible days.

people believe Assyrians are extinct the same way they believe that native americans are extinct. If a group of people who used to own land don't own land anymore-[political recognition] they are thought to be non-existent.] the exceptions are some of the nomadic people of the middle-east and some parts of Africa

Probably because you don't technically have a country anymore since it was taken over forcefully.

The first link shows that not everyone thinks your extinct.
