I told me ex to go to child support and give payments there. He hasn't gone. He keeps on giving me personal checks. Should I go and apply for child support or is that done automatically once divorce is processed? We had our divorced done thru a legal aid office instead of an attorney.

mine was done thru legal aid as weel. It differs from state to state, and even county to county. Your legal aid should still be able to answer that question over the phone.... at least mine has been very helpful with all of the questions that come after..... good luck

Not quite sure whats going on here. If you havent appeared in frony of a judge in divorce court and he hasnt granted you a divorce that was settled with the legal aid office, then you dont have a divorce yet legally . A legal aid office itself cannot grant a divorce. Only a judge can do that. Id contact the legal aid office and see whats going on before you do anything else. The legal aid office is like an atty, can only do the paperwork involved and file it into the courts, so you better find out otherwise you may not be divorced yet. Good luck
