Sadly, it is an older player... either Barry Bonds or Omar Vizquel. It would be nice to think that their best player was in his 20s and might have a decade ahead of him.

I would give the slight edge to Ray Durham over Omar Vizquel..Durham's offensive numbers are better and his range(RF) is much better

Ray Durham
BA-295 OB%-362 SLG-543 OPS-905
R-78 RBI-93 2B-28 3B-7 HR-26 TB-263
BB-50 SO-59 SB-6 CS-2
Defense - RF-4.82 FLD%-.983

Omar Vizquel
BA-299 OB%-365 SLG-393 OPS-758
R-88 RBI-58 2B-21 3B-10 HR-4 TB-222
BB-55 SO-50 SB-24 CS-7
Defense - RF-4.22 FLD%-.993

Durham's OPS is almost 150 points higher and his .6 better RF mean he takes away 90 more hits/"projected over 150 games"

Vizquel. Where else would you find a 39 year old player who is a gold glove shortstop who hits .300, steals over 20 bases, plays every day and is the best bunter in the game?

Barry? I guess it's Barry.

Jason Schmidt and Moises Alou both had good season as well, but surprisingly Bonds seems to have better stats than both of them.
