I need some items that are truly American (Geograhpicaly). Think back to your Geograhpy Class. Things like hot dogs (German), ice cream (Italian), or automobiles (European) are NOT American.

Native Amercians came across the Land Bridge between Russia and Alaska. NO ONE is native to North America. The Atomic Bomb was actually from Einstein, and guess what he was? German. If you really believe french fries are the one, explain.

How's about the banjo?
"The origins of the five-string banjo are often, but possibly erroneously, linked to Joel Walker Sweeney, an American minstrel performer. Sweeney wanted an instrument similar to the banjar played by African Americans in the American south, but at the same time, he wanted to implement some new ideas. He worked with a New York drum maker to replace the banjar's skin-covered gourd with the modern open-backed drum-like pot, and added another string to give the instrument more range or a drone."

Actually everything came from somewhere else then to some degree.
But, I would say the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone Park ( Old Faithful ) and of course all the animals that are only found here in America. Diamond Back Rattlesnake for 1.
Anything that someone has thought of at some point in time they or the ancestor were from somewhere else.

Apple Pie and a Cup of Joe. I believe Apple Pie originally came from Britain but if you remember English Immigrants, who created America as we know it today, also originated in Britain. Other than that TRULY american items would all be Native American. Unless you're Native American, everything american as we know it, is from immigrants. So take it as you will. Probably specific types of pies, teas, and printed material are truly American as known in Colonial days. Barbeque originated on the east coast I believe, Virginia If I remember correctly, so atleast we know we have that for sure. Amusement parks. The Internet originated as a CIA database I believe. So any one of these things could be considered as it.
