women are fertile mid-way between their menstrual cycle, i.e. if you menstruate every 30 days you would be fertile on the 15th, so to be safe take two days on each side of the the 15th. you can also take your temperature every a.m. and it usually will rise when you are ovulating, other than the 5 days you should be non fertile. Not an exact science as other things can cause your menstrual period to be early or late.

If you are trying to work it out so you can have sex without birth control and not get pregnant, then forget it... Expect to have a bouncing baby visit in about nine months...
