if you want to get a woman, and your a poetry writer you have an in right there.....you dont want a girl who doesnt have anything in common with you, so say you gave a poem to a girl and she looked at you all crazy and was like "wow you're gay" obviouslly shes not the type of female you want....on the other hand, i write poetry as well so i would understand where a guuy was coming from if he wrote me somthing....you know? and i wouldnt think it was stupid...so it deoends on the girl you give it to.

Honestly, it'd bore me to death if I had to spend the rest of my life critquing someone's poems. But that's just me.
These days I don't think it really matters what you do for a living so long as you can hold your own weight financially in the relationship. There are plenty of couples who work in totally different fields. It doesn't stop them from loving eachother because they share other common interests, which they can do together to forget about whatever it is they do for a job and focus on whats more important to them: spending time with the one they love.
So be a poetry writer, if that's what you really want. It is your life and you're free to make that choice. If you found your life's calling in garbage collection that would be cool too, so long as you were happy.
Just keep other interests as well, that way even if the woman you end up falling in love with hates poetry there is still other stuff you can do together.

I know lots of cool dudes who are poets. Get out there to an open mic and watch what happens when you come off stage ... women like poetry by men, and they often treat male poets like rock stars. At least they do in Boston ...

poetry is a great way to win over certain girls now only give the poetry to a girl if you mean it, not just to get in thier pants because if you do, trust me you will really hurt them

Depends if it is good. Many people can write, but few touch the soul, get what I mean? And not everyone's soul is touched the same way, nor do all, "get it."
