Wife and I have been apart for 6 weeks... Both started dating. Today at counseling we decided to date each other but be open to dating others as well. So we are taking baby steps. Great girl but we never communicated. What are the chances of this working?

If you can find it, go rent "Nina Takes a Lover". It's an older movie, kinda artsy, but deals with this subject very well I think for both parties involved.

I have never once heard of dating other people saving a marriage. If you never communicated then now would be the time to do that. Date your wife but...other people too? Sounds to me like an excuse to get a little bit of "strange" on both sides.

Either way, watch the movie.

I'm amazed that a married man and a married women can get people to date them at all!
If you're dating other people, I give this about a 1% chance of working out.. and I feel sorry for the schumcks you date while still being married and "dating" your wife.
Why not just get a divorce and move on with your lives? Why all this messing around? Either you're married or your not. Dating and dating other people is ludicrious!

Communication is an important role in a healthy marriage.
Honestly if you all want to share what is precious to each of you with other people (open relationship) then really there is no need to continue a marriage. I mean if you all are single then you can still do the same thing you are doing now. If one of you happen to meet someone that you would look for a future with then if your still married you are hurting yourself and the other person.

Go out to play, have nice dinner and dance together
try to find some hobby to enjoy, maybe take short vacation to just change the place. Try to care and do something nice to each other.
Don't make any bad comments to get into the fight - silence is golden - or shot up can really help. Don't talk about past - make some short bat real plans for the future .......... and love, love each other
with fool respect and sens making communication. Be realistic is only your good faith call to find out if something left of the love from the past.!!!!!

Been divorced and it doesn't work. Been through the counseling and it doesn't work. When someone wants out bad enough, neither will work until the marriage is over with. Be careful of the jealousy thing too. That can get you every time.

Very Slim chance if you are dating others. If you do work it out, most often one person ussually always feels hurt over what each other did during the seperation. If you really want this marriage, I would advise for you to pause on dating anyone else while figuring it all out.

Very slim, it seems to me. The dynamics of dating your spouse are sooo different from that of dating other people. You'll both be suspiscious of each other's dating activities, and will be wondering whether or not the other person is dating someone else.

If you are both committed to it working, then it will work. Take your time, work hard in counseling and on following through with the instructions from the counselor and things should work just fine.

No communication means no marriage. Now, do you communicate with other women, or is it just her that you have issues with? If you don't communicate well at all then that's something you need to work through and who better to help you through it than someone who knows you.

The chances of this working out when you are both dating other people is absolutely ZERO!
