1st distribute throughout the parenthesis (sp?):
4(3-x)-3(4-x)
12-4x-12+3x (remember -3 times -x equals a positive number, 3x in this case)
now group like elements:
12-12-4x+3x
0-4x+3x > 12-12=0, so you're left with...
-4x+3x > now you need to subract 3x from -4x
-x > if it helps, change it to -4x-(-3x)= -x
or use a number line to help you.
your answer is -x

Multiply 4*3, then multiply 4 *-x;
Multiply -3*4, then multiply -3*-x.
When you multiply it out it looks like this:
12 - 4x -12 +3x
Note the positive value for 3x, because negative * negative = positive.

4(3-x)-3(4-x)
12-4x-12+3x >the 12 and 12 cancel out & you combine 3x & -4x
-4x+3x=-1x or -x
Im in Math B Honors
