If you're lucky it might be as easy as going to your local reference library and looking up the address in a reverse phone book. Some libraries have those things stretching back years.
Or, work your way back talking to the most recent people who live/lived there, asking who lived there before, etc.
Failing that, a local realtor should either be able to do it for you or at least point you in the right direction.
You could get really lucky and simply type in the address in a few search engines on the internet and see what pops up. You might end up getting interesting information.

libraries keep the electoral registers of each year and they are available to the public, don't know if they go that far back. The other option may be the land registry as they will have recorded who owned the property, not sure if this is open to the public.

by contactin the ghosts that still dwell in the deepest darkest rooms of the lovely yet mystic house secluded in the corner, unable to move on...desperate to cling onto the remaining remnants on their glorious days spent on earth...and now watching all those that pass through their kingdom on earth.

census or electoral register ask at your library. A deed search or land registry will only tell you who owned the property not who lived in it
