2 = log7(49)

log7(5x-1) = log7(49*(x-2))
5x-1 = 49(x-2)
5x-1 = 49x-98
97 = 44x
x = 97/44

IIRC.

log(7)(5x - 1) = 2 + log(7)(x - 2)
log(7)(5x - 1) - log(7)(x - 2) = 2
log(7)((5x - 1)/(x - 2)) = 2

this can be rewritten as

7^2 = (5x - 1)/(x - 2)
49 = (5x - 1)/(x - 2)
49(x - 2) = 5x - 1
49x - 98 = 5x - 1
44x = 97
x = (97/44)

If you go to www.quickmath.com and type in
(log(5x - 1))/(log(7)) = 2 + ((log(x - 2))/(log(7)))
so that it will be able to work it, it will give you the same answer.

log7(5x-1)=log7(49)+log7(x-2)
(5x-1)=49(x-2)
