Yes, there's a trick to it though. I'm proud to say that I have mastered getting all the components into the bag AND having it close completely!
tricks: leave windows unzipped, pull the upper corners out so its all flat, fold into 1/4 lengths towards the center (should be about 6"shorter than the bag) roll towards the door.

Because that would be too easy. Hardly anything that comes in a bag fits back in it after it's been used. It's just a fact of life....

I usually get ticked and throw the bag at the nearest tree
And the answer to your other question is that it would cost them money to manufacture a bigger bag

I agree with you.. My tent ripped the damn bag when I tried to put it back in. It was like trying to put a baby back in ..lol
