Don't get me wrong yes we all feel like crap from time to time, but there is always a big bright light at the end of the tunnel, sorry for the cliches but they are true..So this goes to everyone who reads this keep a positive thought in your heart and hold it there for times of need....SORRY FOR GETTING TO SLUSHY BUT I HAVE LEARNT SO MUCH ABOUT LIFE OVER THIS YEAR... ITS TO SHORT!!.....Take care all....... JK

It would be wrong to give a too simplistic answer, but I think much of it has to do with feeling you are in control of your own life. I always take the view that I am responsible for myself and my own happiness. I think no-one has the right to expect another person, even their spouse, to be responsible for making them happy. The few persistently miserable people I've met don't feel in control but they don't seem to want to be in control. They want to blame others for their misfortunes and not have to make any effort on their own behalf. If anyone does anything for them, they are not grateful anyway as it's never enough. They envy other people and think they are "lucky", rather than that they work to make themselves happy, or take a positive view. Miserable people, I've found, often really hate happy people and long to bring them down.

i think it has loads to do with what one's mum ate when one was in the womb, food, excercise & coping strategies developed in childhood afterthat it takes a lot to change one's attitudes; adulthood in this case might just be a playing out of the results in previous cases.

I have wondered that myself. I really think a lot of it has to do with how you are raised, as in your parents' attitudes. Kids really seem to pick that up.
