Columbus was a very brave Seaman who conquered the 'then' unknown seas.
Columbus was no worst than the wicked men of his time.
It's strange that European folks criticize Columbus while they all shared in his conquests. If we are against Columbus, why do we still occupy the Americas which formerly were inhabited by Indians?
We are accessors to the crimes of Columbus. Aren't we?
Reminds me of Fidel Castro...a white Spaniard who has enslaved the people of Cuba for many years and still blames Columbus for his discoveries. Castro should know that without the discoveries of Columbus there may have been no Cuba.

So, Columbus was no Saint but as a Sailor, he was a hero. If he was truly Italian, the Italians have a right to be allowed to honor his memory.
