1) Heavy metal is just bluegrass with a distortion pedal and no twang.
2) If you could cross Kirk Hammett with Carlos Santana, you'd get Trey Anastasio.
3) White Zombie's first album, La Sexorcisto, was the first to show that metal could be an art form. Tool took the idea to a whole new level.
4) The first heavy metal song was "Symptom of the Universe."

The first heavy metal song, according to Ozzie Osbourne, is "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks. When Ozzie heard it for the first time with the razor-blade cut speakers he said it made his hair stand on end. As to what the first heavy metal song actually is, that's a guess. John Kay of Steppenwolf was the first to actually use the words "heavy metal (thunder)" in a song ("Born To Be Wild"), but is that a heavy metal song? Its a rock song, but I wouldn't call it "metal".

Heavy metal chord structure is different from blue grass, and is usually in minor keys. Blue grass can be in a minor key, but is usually in major keys. Blue grass music uses different instrumentation, ALWAYS acoustic - and NEVER electric unless you are talking about acoustic-instrument pickups and amplification. Heavy metal is usually played at very fast tempos, although both styles of music use a variety of tempos depending on the song. "The Unforgiven" by Metallica does not have a super-fast tempo.

Heavy metal usually avoids distortion pedals if real tube overdrive is available, but "Dimebag Darrell" used a solid state amp (which surprised a lot of people). (R.I.P., D.D.)

I think your unpopular opinions are interesting, and have a degree of validity to them.

You are the wave of the future. Differing opinions is what keeps people moving forward. You never know, one day your ideals may become mainstream leaving everyone else in the dust.

I'd have to say I'm with you about 70%. And with you 100% in reference to Tool.

Those are some really benign opinions. Now if you were to mention Michael Bolton, you could really start a s--- storm.
