MAINLAND Chinese business ethics? You've got to be kidding.

Be polite and apolitical so the party doesn't report you.

Keep only one honest set of books and don't show it to anyone.

Don't trust outsiders.

Listen to gossip rather than to the explanations of your subordinates.

Your family comes first. If you need to trust an underling, subtly threaten his lifelihood and then come to the rescue if there is a aproblem with family and finances.

Don't trust any other Chinese.

I do business in China and I totally agree with UrbanCoyote. They will screw you out of a dollar in a heart beat.
