Ok...I had this PC built this summer...xp installed. Before all the updates from windows, it worked with the mic and speakers. Afterward, the only way to hear was to plug into the modem directly.....And the mic won't work now either...not even in the modem. I have tried the wizard and test....everything...anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong or even how to fix it? Thanks in advance for all of your help!!!...ps....it won't let me pick computer as the category...grrrrrrr yahoo!!!!!

Sounds like you garbaged the drivers. Either that or in your updates you changed the default audio devices.
1. Get Belarc Advisor (it's free) and scan your computer. Fix the issues it finds.
2. Go to device manager and get the make/model number of your devices that aren't functioning.
3. Use the internet to download the latest device drivers.
4. Go back to device manager, open the devices that aren't functioning and update the drivers with the new ones.
5. If this works, great! If not, check your default audio settings to be sure they still point to your existing devices.
This should solve your problems.

I think you need to reinstall you sound card ... check your cd drivers
