Musicman brings up an interesting point. I live in a small town in Nevada in which I swear there is a meth lab on every other block. Going by that, I wonder how many people within a stone's throw from my place are already illegally growing their own pot. The vision of the arrest rate in this little burg doubling is frightening to me. In principle, I agree with the legalization, but I will have to give it more thought. I mean, what's the point, if the Feds will come down on people who then believe that they can safely raise a cash crop? It seems like a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Unfortunately the Federal Government laws take precedence. Even if you vote to legalize marijuana, licensed growers will be arrested and prosecuted for breaking federal law. It happens in California all the time. We voted for medicinal marijuana usage and growth. The distributers are busted by the feds all the time. States rights don't mean crap anymore, the voice of the people is only heard when it agrees with the administration.
There have been many things in California that were approved by a majority of voters only to have them squashed by the supreme courts as 'unconstitutional'. Of the people, by the people and for the people simply does not exist any longer.

The so-called 'war on drugs' has simply promoted the drugs to young people, who find the 'illegal' aspect compelling.
There is no evidence of harm caused by the use of marijuana, although just like alcohol use should be avoided when driving or operating machinery.
The government could be making a huge revenue from it, just as they have always done from tobacco - it's just politically incorrect, and suicide for any politician, to put forward that view.

I'm against legalizing any drugs. More ppl are smoking joints in cars and drinking at the same time. We don't need any more of those around.
And everyone knows the age thing doesn't matter-anyone can find a 21 yr old to go in and buy drugs or alcohol for them if they want it.
I'm for toughening the laws, not relaxing them.

I guess it totally depends on how you view marijuana use. There are a lot of people who want to legalize a whole host of currently illegal drugs and allow government regulation of those drugs. The obvious advantages include tax dollars and consumer safety.

I think they should legalize and regulate pot. I think that would bring in a ton of revenue for the government. Pot is no worse for anyone than alcohol, in fact, it can be argued that pot is actually better for you than alcohol.

well as messed up as legal drugs, we have bigger issues like why they are tryin to take away womens sports and affirmative action and college visits for minorities. Lets stay focused on equalizing before we worry about things ppl are going to do anyway as we all know, like smoking weed.

not even drugs, there are alot of negative stuff now a days like alkohol, smoking, selling sex and yes drugs. So keep your mind straight and first look at people close too you before you look at the media.... help yourself with your loved ones and then the people outside...and maybe you'll get your answer for your Question?
