I assume you're using Windows 2000 or XP?

If so, are you logged on as the user that owns the folder?

The NT based operating systems will only let the user who "owns" the folder access it.

So if you have 2 users named Jack and Jill, jack cannot access any folders within Jill's Documents and Settings\Jill folder structure. Ditto for Jill accessing Jack's Documents and Settings\Jack folder structure.

The above does not apply if you create a folder anywhere outside of Documents and Settings.
Eg: Jill creates a folder on the C: drive called Jills Folder.
Jack will be able to access this no problem. Ditto if Jack creates the folder, Jill we be able to access it.

There are another 2 reasons why you might be denied access.
One is that the folder is corrupted, or the hard disk has bad sectors where the folder is stored.
The other is that there is a trojan / virus that encrypts your My Documents folder and sub folders. When you try to access them you are greeted with a message telling you to pay money for the password to remove the encryption.
It doesn't sound like you have this otherwise I'm sure you would've mentioned the demand for money...
