There are some employment areas where age and experience are a positive boon i.e. nursing, social work, teaching, police etc. But often in more physical jobs waste collection, catering their age can be a negative point. There is new legislation now to help fight ageism in the workplace so time will tell if it has any impact.

Ageism is endemic in life so obviously it will spill over into the workplace.

why would you think so? In my work place older people are respected for their knowledge and experience. And i work in a hotel with around 200 employees. All of us will get old, if we are lucky... And if we would listen more to the older people there would be less disasters in the world...

Just so you know....according to my Mom...it's epidemic in all segments of our society....pretty sad.
