i have a severely stained rug that i really NEED to wash, nut i had broken a jar on it this morning, and now there's glass all over it!! what should i do: should i wash it anyways or throw it away? will the little glass fragments ruin my washing machine? i've already tried to vacuum up the glass, and i got most of if, but i'm afraid that there might be little pieces that i can't see.... so you tell me, should i risk it???

The little pieces wont hurt your washing machine any more than a grain of sand hurts your washing machine. Look inside the machine. See the holes? As long as it is smaller than the holes it should be fine. I think if you vacuumed it and dont see any large fragments, it will be fine.

I would think if you vaccuumed it there wouldn't be enough glass left in there to hurt anything. You might try taking it outside and giving it a good shake, if it's not too big. I would go ahead and wash it. If you are not sure about the washer after you get the rug out you could run it through another cycle without anything in it.

well if you vaccumed and swept and shook off most of the glass i think it should be alright in the washer, I mean, I have had things break in the washing machine such as metal clips and things and it was fine. Go ahead and wash that rug.

I would shake the rug out first, go outside and shake it out gently before washing it. Or just vacuum it then wash it. Make sure you get most of the glas fragments before washing it though.

Take the rug outside and beat it with a broom or something to finish getting the glass out! : )

Well.... I would think you should take it outside and shake the damn thing out. Then put it in the washer. The small glass particles could damage the pump and hoses in the machine.

Go ahead and wash it since you've vacuumed it. It'll be fine. Any glass particles left will get washed out and will be so fine they shouldn't hurt your washer.
