Think about it.Tradesmen usually work up a ladder,carrying either paint or tools or bricks,how can a sensible avoiding action be considered a superstition?

Superstition and wise advise. I don't think it causes bad luck to walk under a ladder like the superstition says, but it is smart not to so that you avoid having things accidentally dropped on your head.

There are many different stories of its roots but the most common is that a ladder forms the holy trinity and walking under it would be concidered breaking it.In the end i would think its a superstition.

In my personal opinion, wise advice.
Of course the umbrella thing is too.
If you open an umbrella indoors, you're bound to knock mom's precious Mayan vase off the table...
