Forget about what "should be." Stop watching Oprah or those Yentas on the view. Keep going with the hot sex, and don't get fat. If you want him to talk more, become interested in what he likes - whether its football, beer, darts or whatever. He doesn't want to talk to you about stupid girlie things.

I must say that Yes my wife is really my best friend and Yes sex is very important to us in our relationship. However I do not know if our sex life would be as good as it is if that's all our relationship was based on.After 15 years I still feel that I can talk to her about anything even if its something I know she will be upset about and to me that's what makes a good marriage. Knowing that no matter how bad you feel, screw up what ever you can always tell your partner and they will not judge you just listen and try to help you through whatever it is. Perhaps in time you will start to talk more but for now just enjoy the closeness that you both do share and try to talk more about the everyday things that happen to you both. Start out with the little things and don't look at like what are you complaining about but rather that your partner is just venting....as you both would to a Friend *S*
Good luck

You spouse your best friend? Why? Only amish and christians think that way! The rest of the civilized world knows that's not possible. I mean, it can happen if you marry your best friend, but very unrealistic.
Is like asking if your parents/sibblings can be your best friends. Its possible, but very unlikely.
Dont panic about this, there is nothing wrong with having a husband and a best friend. Please dont make a big deal out of it and just enjoy the great sex. Lack of sex, now that is a problem worth mentioning....LOL

To give you an honest answer, I would say have a best friend (same sense of humor, etc, not just a token "best friend" label that you tell your wife) than hot in bed. My longtime G/F (7years) isn't hot in bed and doesn't have a good sense of humor, etc. So I got the raw end of the deal. She would be much more bearable if we got along real good.....

Sex, passion, heat, and all that stuff, fade with time.
What will you be left with?
Unfortunately many relationships are solely based on sex. We get older, we slow down, sometimes we just want to relax.
With my wife and I (18 years), it's way more than sex. Sex is just one small component of something that is very large and fulfilling. We can challenge each other intellectally, inspire each other creatively, keep each other going when it gets really tough, stuff like that.
I'm not saying you have no future - but, honestly, what else do you have?

I don't see any reason why anyone else should be a husbands best friend. If you can share your bed with your wife, you should be able to share everything else!
